I am honored and elated to welcome you all to Hongxing Steel Company Limited. I want to also use this opportunity to specially thank the Director General/ Executive Director Standards Organisation of Nigeria for finding us fit and worthy for this working visit despite his very busy schedule, you are indeed a true example of a committed and dedicated astute public servant. This visit marks a major milestone in the history of our company.

 

Hongxing Steel Company Limited as we all know is a key player in the manufacturing and construction sector of Nigeria as regards the production of ribbed reinforcement steel bars of different sizes. We pride ourselves in turning waste into wealth; from the collection of scrap metals all over Nigeria down to melting it in addition to other chemicals like manganese and rolling it out as a ribbed iron steel bar. Hongxing Steel Company Limited is a multi-national steel manufacturing company that has been in the business of producing iron rods over the last 10 years. Our major raw material which is scrap metal is sourced locally here in Nigeria.

 

We take the issue of standards seriously here at Hongxing Steel Company Limited. We ensure all our products conform with the Nigerian Industrial Standard (NIS: 117 2004) before they are pushed into the market. This can only be possible with the aid of our fully functional chemical and mechanical laboratory. The Universal Testing Machines like the Optical Emission spectrometer and other weight measuring equipment are calibrated annually by the National Metrology Institute (NMI) Enugu.

 

It has been very glaring to us in the steel manufacturing sector,  that  Mallam Farouk is not a man to compromise with Standards since he took office as the DG SON. The SON Special Task Force (STF) on steel has been very active in ensuring all steel companies in Nigeria conform to the standard. Also, the quarterly MANCAP inspection by Lagos Office 3 has been of immense help, especially the feedback we receive after each inspection.

 

Finally, Hongxing Steel Company wishes to reiterate its readiness and commitment to assisting the Standards Organisation of Nigeria in any capacity towards eradicating substandard goods from the Nigerian market.
